The whips are active at both ends of the Palace today. In the Commons the vote will be taken on the Government's proposals to allow, in extraordinary circumstances, detention without charge for up to 42 days. As of this morning the result is still in doubt.In the House of Lords the Report Stage of the European Union (Amendment) Bill is due to conclude. There will be a debate, and then a vote on whether there should be a referendum. Already very high turnouts have been recorded in divisions on this bill on Monday.
There will be a very tense atmosphere at Westminster as these two key votes get nearer.
